How to get unstuck in your business? Day 2

You Never Planted Your Flag

Now if you haven’t done this I refer to you as a roamer!
Yes a roamer.
Planting your flag is really about staking a claim to one thing and focusing on just that.
So my question to you is this – How many business opportunities are you involved in right now?
If your answer is more than one then you’re in ONE too many.
You may be trying to apply principles of business to several different opportunities and getting confused with what your focus is.
Now naturally we want to diversify our portfolio.
This makes a lot of sense yes! But it only makes sense when you’ve made it in one arena.
I again go back to the businessmen of the brick and mortar type who have managed to build what I call EMPIRES in their lifetime.
When you look at their history there is ONE thing in common with successful businessmen

They all started with ONE THING;

One idea
one business
one goal
and focused on that and only that.
Then when that became successful they moved on.
Don’t have to look far to understand what I mean – Richard Branson comes to mind instantly.
The late Steve Jobs!
What happens when you focus on one business is that you become very good at it,
you learn and make mistakes, that you will be able to apply to your other opportunities.
I have done the same thing.
I started off with one MLM and I never really deviated from that, but what I did try to do was get into other consultancy businesses while trying to develop my MLM.
Now business is business and marketing is marketing.
So we know whatever business we think we’re in, we need to forget that
– if you’re in business YOUR BUSINESS IS MARKETING –
so you can imagine I was marketing three and four businesses at the same time and confusing myself and my audience.

So I had to take a step back and decide what I was going to focus on.
I decided on my MLM.
So I started putting into practice the tools and skills I was learning from my Elite Marketing Pro system and applying it to my MLM.
A few months later, after getting into the habit of doing this with my MLM,
I was able to shift gears to focus on my consultancy businesses as the MLM was now working on almost autopilot.
The point is you want to start in one place and grow from there.
Just think about how America was born – they planted their flag in the East and eventually worked their way to the West; (yes with blood, sweat and tears!) but you get my drift.
Don’t try to plant your flag over the entire United States of America; just focus on Maryland for now!
Eventually you’ll reach California.

You make a very valid point. Planting your flag is key to building any business. When owning a restaurant, if the menu was too diverse then there was nothing special about it. It just blended into everything else.
But if you can stake your claim in one MLM and one Marketing system… then you are on your way to building an empire. Thank you for sharing this post.

Most welcome Katrina! It’s the concept of just being focused. Sometimes we take this little point for granted but it can make all the difference in the world!
