The fact that you’re reading this post is probably because you’re Googling for ways a mom can make a living online.
I understand that as a stay-at-home-mom, you want to find means to help your husband financially speaking while still being able to take care of the household and the kids.
I feel you because I was once in your shoes. In fact, I’d like to share with you my personal story way back before I was the “marketing mom”.
Okay, so I got two daughters – one is four years old (today actually) and the other just turned one. When I was pregnant with my first daughter, I told myself that I’d do whatever it takes to work from the comfort of my home and earn income online.
I didn’t want to go back to my office job anymore and thought of tendering my notice while I was on my 3-month maternity leave. I jumped off from corporate life to running an online business during my maternity leave.
Fast forward to three months after giving birth, guess what?
I went back to work! Unfortunately what I was doing was not making me any money for me to be able to leave my job permanently.
Six months later, things unexpectedly turned to my favor.
I had the opportunity to stop working because of what we call voluntary separation, and my company paid me a monetary separation. This money allowed me to focus on finding the truths about earning online.
Although the money was not that much, it was somehow a form of a cushion for our family while I was trying to figure out how the Internet works. (Oh did I tell you that my husband a few years earlier had quit his job to start a business).
So we were down to zero fixed income and two start up businesses, a lump sum of cash to take us maybe through one year and new born baby! CRAZY right?
All my efforts paid off though and I am now a full-time mom working online, running successful businesses. (yes businesses)
Believe me, it is really possible to make a living online. You just have to make that one big decision (to START) and take incremental steps to make it happen for you too.
So, today I’m gonna be talking about the 5 ways a mom can make a living online. (You can also watch the video if you prefer)
Among these 5 ways, there is only one which I haven’t implemented personally (I want you to guess which one it is by leaving a comment below) and all four others worked for me.
Now, if you are still working but you want to discover your place in the Internet marketing arena, you have to focus on only one thing in the at a time. As you go along and get to understand how things work online, then you can try other ways. Remember, having multiple streams of income is going to be your ticket out of your J-O-B!
So let’s jump into those ways a Mom can Make a Living Online
Not everyone is comfortable with network marketing so I call this first way as online retailing instead.
I am actually a network marketer, turned affiliate marketer and it’s actually thanks to the company I mention in the video below.
But when we think about what network marketing is, it’s really just selling products (retail) and recommending other to do the same (affiliate).
I much prefer focus on the product retailing instead of just recruiting and recruiting.
But Elite Marketing Pro shares training on how you can do both effectively.
I also teach people to retail products in ways that I know.
I tell you, nothing works until you start selling something. Yes, the money is in selling.
You can either sell your own products or find something to resell and use platforms like Amazon or Ebay or setup your own on Presto Shop.
While you may spend some hours learning how to use online selling platforms like these and you have to pay some fees, it is worth it.
I’m sure you’ve heard about Fiverr, Freelancer, and Upwork.
These platforms offer the opportunity for anyone including moms to earn online as a part-time or full-time freelancer.
This can be in the form of web and graphic designing, content writing, accounting, and basically providing the skills you’re good at.
Small to medium-sized companies all over the world (primarily in western countries) that are financially-strained to hire internally go to these sites to hire freelancers.
You just have to create your profile and start looking around to see what services you can offer such as virtual assistance, content writers and more.
Let’s put it this way my consulting agency users several freelancers from Upwork! Some of them are even mothers!
As we all know, moms like us are very good at organizing and writing.
Affiliate marketing is a very powerful and interesting realm.
It is like selling products but without your own capital.
For example, marketplaces like Amazon has this thing called “Associates”.
You sign up as an Amazon Associate and you are given an affiliate/associate ID that is added to every Amazon product that you’re going to promote.
Let’s say you’re into golf just like a friend of mine who’s also part of Elite Marketing Pro , you can promote Amazon golf products on your Facebook page, blog, or other social media pages with a link containing your affiliate/associate ID.
Once a person clicks that link and buys the product, you get a referral fee/commission. Easy as that.
And you’ll definitely need all this in place if you’re going to be tackling Affiliate Marketing because in order to do affiliate marketing well, you’ve got to use blogging as one of the ways to get the word out.
A lot of people ask me how I make money out of blogging.
It’s actually pretty easy.
A brand approaches me to write about them and have it posted on my blog for further promotion to my social media pages.
Sometimes the contract can run from one blog post to a month of blog post and they pay me for it.
But through affiliate marketing you can see how blogging can be very powerful!
I will be discussing with you some ways to monetize your blog in another post so you will be able to implement these steps too.
Meanwhile, let’s focus on the last of the ways a mom can make money online.
Some coined it coaching or mentoring, but I personally like to call it online tutoring or developing digital courses, because what I actually do is teach people, which is something that I love to do.
You know, back in the days, I used to be a Math tutor because I am an Engineer and subjects like Math and Calculus which scare students are actually very easy for me.
Currently, I only offer one-one-coaching, online tutorials to people including moms who like to learn how to make money online, who want to build and really maximize a blog or even understand the ins and outs of Social Media Marketing, If that sounds like something you’d be interested in use this link to schedule your coaching session today.
I know tons of moms who’ve developed a course, or maybe have an idea for a course and they just don’t know what to do with it. Well Thinkific has taken care of the hard work for you. If you’ve develop a course and looking for a great platform to host, market and generate revenues, then I highly recommend Thinkific.
Teach your audience anything you’d like and be able to sell that course online.
Now you don’t have to teach online marketing and social media like me! You can find something that you’re knowledgeable in and teach that.
Just think of something you’re excellent at and offer to become an online tutor. An example would be cake baking.
So, we have tackled all the 5 ways a mom can make a living online, I am very excited to know which among these is the first one that you want to do.
Later on, you can set up an online payment system and automate everything else, which is something that I will discuss in another post.
Now, for those of you who want to start running your online marketing business, all you have to do is go to is set up a FREE strategy session with me and I’ll show you the ropes!
Looking forward to working with you.
